The Cheviot Spring Festival Committee invites you to be part of our annual festival.
Inspired by the fields of daffodils in the Cheviot Hills Reserve, the Festival is held annually in early September in the Cheviot School Grounds. The 2016 event was a wonderful day out for all involved with a bustling atmosphere found at every corner. The date for 2017 is the 9th of September.
A day of fun, family and flowers, each year we welcome a wide range of visitors from around Hurunui, wider Canterbury, Kaikoura and Christchurch, and invite them to sit back, relax, eat, shop and enjoy all that our country fete and village has to offer.
The impact of the Hurunui-Kaikoura earthquake on Cheviot has been widely felt. For our local businesses, the road closure has meant visitors are few and far between and sales are significantly down on this time last year. The Cheviot township is a shadow of its former lively self. To compound this, the wider community is suffering on a different level, with damaged homes and fractured nerves found across the district. The farming community, and our gardens, have also endured three year's of drought, but that is behind us now, the grass is green, the gardens are growing!
In light of the current situation we see the 2017 Festival as an opportunity to offer a much larger and vibrant event than ever before. We will be looking to do increased marketing and publicity of the event and are excited about the stalls and speakers we already have booked to attend.
If you would like to have a stall at our Spring Festival, we would love you to be a part of our day. Attached is an application form outlining the finer details of the day. Spaces are limited so we recommend you get in quick!
It is our aim to restore some life and laughter back into the district with a vibrant, busy and fabulous Spring Festival. We welcome any questions you might have and look forward to welcoming you on the day.
