Kaiwara Classic Culverden to Cheviot Mountain Bike Race

Adventure mountainbike race

Established event on the Canterbury mountainbiking calendar, 43km of mountainbiking adventure from Culverden over the Lowry Peak Range through the Ethleton Valley up the Random Spur before the final descent to finish in Cheviot.

Registration opens from 8am to 9.30am.  Race briefing is at 9.45am and it is compulsory for all competitors to attend.  Race starts at 10.00am.

Cheviot Community is hosting a concert and auction for our local Vanuatuan vineyard workers shown in the photo.  We are hoping to raise funds to help in the rebuild of their homes destroyed by the recent Cyclone.

DATE: September 19

TIME: 7.00 pm

PLACE: Cheviot Area School gymnasium

ENTERTAINMENT: Dance items, Music – local and Vanuatuan

AUCTION: Meat packs, Wine, Vouchers, Firewood, Near new BBQ, Garden hoeing, Jet boat ride, Sounds cruise and lunch, Home produce

Cheviot Area School Reunion

An organising committee are in the planning stage to organise a reunion for Labour Weekend Saturday 25 to Monday 27 October 2014.  

More details will be posted as they come to hand but in the meantime if you are interested in helping in any way or can provide information please contact Rachel Butler.

The weekend might include a family day at the Domain, an event of some kind at Gore Bay, a semi formal dinner and entertainment for the kids such as face painting, pony rides etc.  If you are able to offer any assistance please contact Rachel.

Bring them along to TimeBank Hurunui’s Plant Swap on Friday 24 October at 10 am- 12 am at the Cheviot Art and Craft Centre, 15 Seddon Street.  Bring your selection of potted plants (veggie seedlings, natives, annuals, shrubs, trees!) to the swap, and take home other plants that take your fancy!
