Cheviot Area School is a rural state co-educational school. We are located in the Hurunui District of north Canterbury on the Main North Line railway and State Highway one, 110 km north of Christchurch. Our School caters for students from year 1 to 13 and boasts high levels of educational success in both our primary and secondary school. Our school is set in park like grounds, sharing squash and netball courts, gymnasium, library and many other facilities with our vibrant community. We welcome parents and prospective students to visit the school and talk with our staff at any time.

Little Oaks -Cheviot  is a small, unique and friendly early childhood centre. We have two classrooms:
1. Tiger’s room caters for under two year olds, where children explore with educational toys, music, art and craft, and stories. Qualified teachers provide a fun, friendly environment that our toddlers love.
2. Monty’s room provides an educational Montessori classroom where children are able to reach their full potential through math, language, art, music, drama, geography and biology based subjects. Teachers are early childhood and Montessori qualified. Our centre has excellent ERO reports.

We provide morning sessions (8.30/9am to 1 pm) or full day (3/4 pm), plus a holiday programme.
We offer free ECE for all 3-5 year olds and under 3 years may be eligible for a Work and Income subsidy.

Our aim is to provide a high quality pre-school education for children aged 2-5 years, where children are valued and stimulated in a relaxed and positive environment.
We have a qualified, experienced team of teachers who support children’s personal growth to become confident, competent learners.
Our pre-school follows the NZ Early Childhood curriculum and is well resourced, offering fun and educational learning experiences.
We offer individual learning programmes and have a highly commended Active Movement programme.

20 Free hours ECE for all three and four year olds. WINZ subsidies available.
Parents with children under 2 are welcome anytime.
